While I didn’t completely inherit my dad’s green thumb, I did inherit his love for flowers. Wildflowers are no exception. You can find breathtaking fields of wildflowers at Wildseed Farms and Wedding Oak Winery off of 290 in the Hill Country. If you plan to stop, be prepared to stay for a while and wander.
In addition to the wildflower fields, there are winding paths, a pond and a butterfly garden. Take a break from the heat by browsing the retail shop or checking out the Texas wines, cheeses, Blue Bell ice cream and other yummies in the small cafe. And if you’re up for it, think about a wine tasting at the adjacent winery.
During a recent trip to the Hill Country, we explored Wildseed Farms and I loved it. On that same trip, we visited the LBJ Ranch just outside of Johnson City. During that tour, I learned Lady Bird Johnson shared my love of wildflowers:
“Where flowers bloom so does hope. ” – Lady Bird Johnson
